Beer History

Sumerians, Syrians, Assyrians, Egyptians and Babylonians are regarded as pioneers in beer making.

Remnants of cereal grains dated as of 7 000 – 6 000 BC were discovered in archaeological materials of Georgia. Southwest Asia, including Georgia, is deemed by scientists as the most  ancient center among the seven largest agricultural regions. On archeological sites of Georgia: Amirani and Arukhlo hills, in Urbnisi and Shulaveri  at ruins of Neolithic age mud brick constructions with grain storage holes and farming tools were found, proving that old Georgian tribes settled at this location knew cereal crops and methods of their growing and storage. World science does know older cereal crops growing center.
 
Proceeding from the aforementioned, it can be derived that people having cereal crops, compared to others, stand closer to prehistory of beer making.
 
There are historical data on beer consumption among Caucasian people during ancient times. According to scientists, Colchs owned the secret of brewing beer even at the time of Argonauts trip.
Introduction of a Beer as a culture to Georgia took place from the ancient world countries. It leaves no doubt that the Eastern Beer has been the oldest. And cultural – household relations of ancestor tribes of Georgians with these people have been identified and proved by archeological, epigraphic and ethnographic findings.
Why the Georgian highlanders have retained the beer consumption habit can easily be explained: in Georgia, as in a classic wine – making country, main attention in a lowland was focused on vineyard growing and wine – making. Therefore, brewing beer got spread in mountains and acquired significant place in a highlanders’ lifestyle.
All important celebrations or rituals in Georgian mountainous regions were accompanied with beer drinking, starting from son birth celebration to reconciliation of fighters – enemies…


History of Lemonade

A drink made of lemon juice and lemon infusion was called lemonade in the XVIIth century. This is the origin of the term Limonade which means lemonized.
First company that started production of this refreshing drink in carbonated form was Schwepp & Co. Later it commenced to sweeten water with raspberry and fruit syrups. As the natural syrup was quite expensive, it got replaced with various artificial flavors. Lemonade consisting of the citric acid and flavor was first made in 1833. After starting extraction of citric acid from lemon Lemonade acquired leadership among carbonated fruit drinks.  Lemon’s Superior Sparkling Ginger Ale became the first registered trademark of soft drinks.
Due to its cooling features and delicious taste Lemonade got widespread shortly.
Basis of lemonade is represented by a blend, mix of ingredients, often prepared through cold method. There are also semi – hot and hot methods. When preparing a drink, sugar, citric acid and composition made of various flavors are used. For instance, in making so-called Citro, sugar, lemon juice, mandarin, orange and lemon extracts are added. This drink is of light yellow color with pleasant, refreshing taste and featured citrus flavor.
There used to be various types of lemonades. For example, “Cloudy” lemonade in the United States and Canada and mix of lemon juice, granulated sugar, salt, pepper and noncarbonated water Nimbu Paani in Pakistan and Iran.

“Fizzy” lemonade was especially popular in Paris. Carbonated lemonade Schweppes was favored in Britain, Australia and New Zealand. In Sweden any soft, noncarbonated water used to be called lemonade.

As regards Georgia, here lemonade has a special history. It has always been very popular. These traditions are being continued by Natakhtari Lemonade with its natural, delicious taste and distinguished qualities.
